Safe Hands Children Foundation Land and Borehole
In October 2017, we set out on a mission to help orphans and poor children in a community of Nakkede who needed social, mental, and financial aid—needs so great they limited development and accomplishments in vulnerable children. Through campaigns like sanitary pads for girls, blankets and mattresses for children who had none, sanitation awareness, and others, we created great impact in lives around our community. This would not have been possible without the help of number of incredibly kind and generous people around the world. *THANK YOU* But the story doesn't end here.
We are looking toward purchasing land for an orphan’s school and feeding program. This land will also provide clean water through construction of a borehole. We would also love to build a free school to provide a good learning environment, giving the opportunity for the children to get the education they need to help sustain them in life.
The land will also help us with our operation of a farm, enabling us to keep food costs in check as we strive to feed the starving children and families that come to our foundation looking for food and telling us the saddest stories about the poverty in their homes. It is not uncommon for these children to have gone days without eating which causes constant pain and trauma for them. The farm will allow us to create a sustainable food supply, and make us so happy to be able to help these children.
Currently, we are seeing a lot of illnesses in children due to contaminated water, which has increased medication costs. The borehole will help us provide clean water within a short distance instead of the long walk necessary now to access dirty water sources.
In our village a shocking number of children, mostly orphans, are experiencing stunted growth due to malnutrition. Stunting prevents children from developing to their full potential mentally and physically, and is largely irreversible.
It doesn't have to be this way for these children. Together we can provide for them spiritually, physically, and mentally, being the hands and feet of Jesus in a very real way. This is a way for the people of Nakkede to provide for themselves, preserve their dignity, and break the cycle of poverty and hunger.
With this incredibly opportunity comes responsibility. We are determined to help create more sustainable impact in the lives of orphans and poor children. We won't stop until we get there. So please stick with us, follow our updates and help us change the lives of orphans and children forever.
