Protect Marcel and Joanna Against the Tofino Harbour Authority

Friends, we have gone through hell this winter. The matter of re-locating our business and float home from the Crab Dock could have been simple. Unfortunately, as many of you know, conventional avenues of recourse haven’t worked and legal action (always a last resort for us,) has become the only way to protect ourselves, our careers and our future.

While we are actively in the process of preparing a new anchorage and moving off-grid, this has been challenging, especially in the middle of winter with storms, our electricity cut off and weeks of negative temperatures.

We are so blessed with incredible friends, supporters and advisors, including a kind and brilliant legal team. Lovely people have been bright lights in an otherwise bleak time. While we have received some legal advice pro-bono, there are still real costs associated with legal action.

Charitable contributions to our legal defense would be so welcome! Due to the sensitive legal situation, we are asking that this fundraiser not be posted on social media sites, but instead shared by mail or personal messaging.

Crowdfunding platforms are not charities, so we cannot issue you an official charitable receipt.

Should we be awarded damages as a result of this claim, we will be transparent about the use of proceeds. In the even that we are able to recover our costs we plan to make a donation to Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks Allies, to help them continue their good work protecting the lands and waters of beautiful Clayoquot Sound.
