Safe Water for Pakistan
Tax deductible
Since mid-June, heavy rains have triggered flash floods and wreaked havoc across much of Pakistan. Survivors have described harrowing escapes as rising water levels submerged entire villages, swept away homes, and destroyed hotels.
The ongoing floods threaten to submerge a third of the country. They have already damaged much of the nation’s crops, bringing on a food shortage. And doctors are reporting high rates of waterborne diseases.
Pakistan’s crisis by the numbers:
- 8 straight weeks of heavy rainfall
- 1,100 people killed, with the death toll rising
- 1 million homes and 2,200 miles of roads destroyed
- Over 500,000 people in displacement camps; many others with nowhere to go
- Over 33 million people impacted
