EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER: Zambia Cholera Outbreak

**HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF A DEADLY CHOLERA OUTBREAK**
Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has delayed school openings and urged people to relocate from towns to villages following the deaths of over 400 people in a cholera outbreak.
More than 10,000 cholera cases have been reported nationwide in Zambia since last October.
Children bear over 52% of cases, with alarming fatality rates.
The crisis spans nearly half of Zambia's districts and 9 out of 10 provinces, endangering over 20 million lives. Dr. Paul Ngwakum, UNICEF's regional health adviser, points to long-term poor water sanitation and climate change-induced floods as key causes.
The bacterial disease is spread by contaminated water or food – it causes severe dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea, and can kill within hours if left untreated.
In collaboration with key partners like Living Water International, LifeStraw is distributing filters and purifiers to affected communities, offering a lifeline of safe drinking water. We've donated 5 community-size purifiers (serving 5,000 people) and are producing and shipping 16,000 personal filters this week.
BUT THE NEED IS IMMENSE, and our funds are stretched thin due to ongoing humanitarian crises across the globe. Please lend your support by donating today.
Health care providers at Vubwi District Hospital prepare for treatment of cholera patients at the hospital.
100% of donated funds go toward the cost of products and distribution of supplies. Vestergaard Frandsen, Inc. (d/b/a “LifeStraw”) does not profit from your donation.
LifeStraw’s Safe Water Fund operates through a fiscal sponsorship with Players Philanthropy Fund, a Maryland charitable trust recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178).
