Dear friends and family,
Could you help us find a good used 4x4? They're extraordinarily expensive in Costa Rica, and even by working multiple good jobs, we can't make it happen alone.
The following link is a video from last year, when a tree fell on my 98 Toyota RAV4, highlighting my ongoing vehicle struggles since moving to Nosara. Nearly all of my income went towards monthly car repairs and tuk-tuks. Thanks to my parents' help and working four or five jobs at a time, I got a Suzuki SX4, but it’s now been declared totaled despite putting all our income into fixing it.

While my challenges are minor compared to Jose's journey to success, I understand scarcity and have roughed it my entire adult life while managing to appear successful on the outside. For much of my time here, I didn’t even have a refrigerator, and just last week, I fell into a ditch and couldn’t afford a doctor. It turns out, campesino-style medicine really is incredible.
We couldn't afford our last home, so we loaded our belongings into the broken SX4 and pushed it from one house to the next before a pickup truck helped us. All the while, we're both working multiple jobs that barely cover our expenses, and we live humbly.
We currently have no funds for a reliable vehicle or even tuk-tuks, which cost $20 for a trip to work and back, and $200 a week for the kind of moving around we need.
I dream of repairing my computer and guitar, ruined by a hurricane, and replacing the gear that was lost, so I can be more efficient in my business and focus more on making music, but all my funds run dry before I get the chance.
We love sharing the beauty and culture of Guanacaste with you, Spanish lessons and integration experiences, and dream of dedicating more time to music and art and though we seem energetic and Pura Vida from the outside, we’re running on empty.
We've got loads of positivity and plans to start thriving, but there's no way around needing wheels to make things happen and grow our business so we can finally be financially stable.
Thank you!
Xo
