To all those who will take the time and patience to read through this.
I am organizing this GoFundMe for my dearest Mom and Mentor in hopes of helping her achieve her Dream goals to bring a space full of Love, Peace, and safety to other Domestic Violence Survivors.
Read her next chapter's life journey below.
FROM SUSANNE TO YOU:
My story begins at the Sundance Film Festival 8 years ago, when my family's world-renowned documentary, "The Wolfpack" won the Grand Jury Prize. It chronicled our story of creativity and resilience during a time of intense and horrific abuse.
Thrown into a whole new world of cameras, visibility, and production (we were also featured on ABC's 20/20), I had opened the doors to a new life; taking our tragedy and creating something meaningful from it.
Someone asked me, "So, what do you want to do next?"
My response was surprisingly quick, as I had never considered what was next.
My vision from that moment has taken me on a journey of tears, depression, laughter, insights, surrender, and determined purpose.
For, I am a survivor of domestic violence. This puts me in the category of having witnessed and experienced horrific violations that no human should have to endure.
Through the support of family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers I have climbed out of that dark pit into the light.
Because of the caring and immense support, I have renewed my determination and purpose --- which is to counsel, comfort, guide, and advocate for other survivors of domestic violence.
I want to help them find their voice again.
Just as I found mine.
I look back on the treacherous times at the hands of my abuser and marvel at the transformation I've undergone and the woman I've become.
Now, I'm a Certified Hypnotherapist, Breathworker, Trauma Counselor, Best Selling Author and sought-after public speaker.
Speaking to audiences has taken me all over the world-- from Los Angeles to Leipzig, Germany.
I've triumphed over abuse, and I'm changing lives.
So--- why my quest to manifest a new vehicle? Why am I heartfully asking for your support?
My current one is 15 years old and has become a time and financial drain. In trying to keep it dependable, I have been misled and overcharged by multiple repair companies, leading to unsafe conditions.
To continue pursuing my goals, commuting from Brooklyn to upstate NY has become a necessity.
I need a reliable car that I know I can trust in any kind of weather.
After all, I'm no longer in my 20s and living dangerously---as in the car breaking down anytime, anywhere.
My need for a vehicle is linked to a bigger purpose.
I aim to work in rural communities that lack information and resources about domestic violence.
DV is an epidemic in this country, not confined to any race/class/religion.
I aim to open a healing center as a place of respite for women and their children.
Where they have a chance to climb out of their dungeon.
I aim to offer support, guidance, and comfort that I sorely needed, but never got.
This fund is the 1st puzzle piece, of many, to realize my vision and purpose of helping women and children.
One family at a time.
This is my stand.
I've come a long way. The journey has been defeating and overwhelming, as well as joyous and full of gratitude. While my life reflects the brave changes I've made and my business is steadily growing, I'm asking for community support to help me get new wheels.... and further my path of success.
