About Us: 

Sage and Serpent is a tattoo studio and learning facility in the Inglewood neighborhood of East Nashville, Tennessee. Our shop began in 2017 with a dirt parking lot and 2 tattoo stations and has evolved into a six-station shop on Gallatin Pike that we have sadly outgrown. With aspirations of housing more artists and taking multiple new apprentices per year, we need to build a new location to accommodate our current and upcoming artists. 

For nearly six years, Sage and Serpent has made Inglewood and East Nashville our creative home. Sage and Serpent is a woman-owned shop that has prided itself on creating a safe and comfortable environment for clients and artists from all walks of life. As a shop, we have grown and developed to house and teach some of Nashville's best and brightest artists. Sage and Serpent has, throughout the years, produced many of Nashville's top creative minds throughout the tattoo industry. Owner Shannon Wages has been tattooing throughout Nashville for over 15 years, as well as trained many of Nashville's top artists during her career. Sage and Serpent has been built from the ground up, as a shop where artists and clients alike can feel at home and create great art together. 

What Makes Us Different: 

Since day one, Sage and Serpent has pushed itself to be a step outside the norm in our industry. To start, we have worked hard to have the right balance of a botanical maximalist feel, in order to harness that perfect at home vibe. Our artists and clients alike enjoy our private, individual stations creating a private, safe, and comfortable setting. 

We also try very hard to be a great space for teaching and learning. We are each always improving our own craft, but we also aim every year to produce apprentices that go on to influence many aspects of Nashville’s thriving tattoo scene. We pride ourselves on being a “learning shop”, a place where new and young artists can develop and hone their skills under those with more experience. In the six years that we have been operating, Sage and Serpent has successfully produced at least one apprentice per year, but as of right now, we are entirely filling our current space. We are excited to have the tattoo stations to educate and house many more potential students.  

Why We Need Your Help: 

Due to the ever-growing and developing Nashville cityscape, Sage and Serpent has found itself needing a new forever home. We have scoured the city to finally find a location that we are comfortable with, not just to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our clients, but also a productive and creative space for our artists. This sudden shift in location and development, however, has not been easy on us. 

Use of Funds: 

This is why we are reaching out to our community to help facilitate our move. We are always grateful for the continued support from our wonderful clients. We've developed this GoFundMe Campaign as an investment opportunity for our clients, in order to help us build out our new shop and develop a new creative home for us all. Any contribution to our GoFundMe will be funneled directly into helping us create and construct our new shop. We are building from the ground up, which includes stripping everything bare so we can put down new floors, build up new walls for private, individual stations, brand new plumbing, as well as our signature Sage and Serpent eclectic greenhouse look.  Below is a close estimation of our total costs:
