It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Sahlezghi Yosieph, our beloved father, friend, and brother.
Sahle passed away on January 23, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a month-long battle with COVID 19. He faced this challenge with courage and bravery. He fought every step of the way and ascended in the presence of his family.
Sahle led a bold and adventurous life. He was born and raised in his beloved Eritrea. At the age of eighteen, he landed a job with a Greek shipping liner from the port of Assab, Eritrea. In 1969 his career brought him to the port of New York. While in New York, Sahle became politically active in Eritrea's struggle for independence. He dedicated his life to the freedom and liberty of the Eritrean people.
Sahle's journey included living in Oakland and Seattle before settling down to raise a family in Boston. His travels also included Los Angeles, Hawaii, Uganda, Rwanda, and Las Vegas.
Sahle was a fun and generous man. He had a great sense of humor with a big beautiful smile and charismatic laugh. Everywhere Sahle lived, he immersed himself in the Eritrean community and built lasting friendships. Sahle was the life of the party and confidant to lean on.
Sahle leaves behind three proud sons: Harinet, Jemil, and Senai. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Zinar (10), Asmara (8), Nebari (6), and Nsri (4 months).
Family and friends will fondly remember Sahle as a loving father, friend, and patriot.
