Sai Kothapalli's Akshaya Patra Fundraiser

Hey everyone! My name is Sai Kothapalli. I go to Downingtown West High School and I am competing in the Mr. West competition on April 27th.

Mr. West is a yearly tradition at Downingtown West where a group of boys compete to get crowned “Mr. West.” The show starts with an opening dance and then transitions to a swimwear fashion show, a talent show, and then a formal fashion show. The show is meant to be a fun way to get out of your comfort zone while simultaneously raising money for the charity of your choice. The person who raises the most money wins the title “Mr. Congeniality,” while the judges decide the title of “Mr. West.”

The charity of my choice is Akshaya Patra. Akshaya Patra is a non-profit organization based in Bengaluru, India that aims to fight against childhood hunger. By providing meals to students, it ensures that no child is deprived of their education because of hunger. As someone lucky enough to have the opportunity to get a good education in the United States with countless resources, I believe that it is important for me to give back to those who are less fortunate from my home country.
