Sailing family’s denied health insurance claim

Hi my name is Angela and I’m raising money to help the beautiful sailing family ‘Sailing Excelsior’ who were denied their international health insurance claim through RACQ for life saving surgery in indonesia. If they don’t have your back, I’m hoping the sailing community will rally behind this awesome family xx
Here’s their story in their own words -
As you all know sarah fell extremely ill recently and required an emergency appendectomy in Indonesia. We had Travel Insurance with RACQ whom we've been with for bloody
years and even had a mortgage with them.
Now being in Indonesia and needing the surgery ASAP the hospital saw this as an opportunity to completely empty our savings costing us nearly $7000 in ridiculous hospital fees alone which they were actually bartering with me while Sarah was laying on the operating table refusing to start the surgery until I paid in full. That's ok because we had insurance, or so we thought.
RACQ has since denied our claim stating we didn't have plane tickets for leaving and coming home to Australia and that we didn't purchase the policy prior to leaving Australia (we actually did) stating the fact were still here in Indonesia without a solid date to return to Australia. They now have us over a barrel with technicalities and legal loopholes with no intention of helping us in anyway shape or form leaving our family completely and absolutely in financial distress in a foreign country knowing full well we cannot fight them.
Thank you very much RACQ you f@&king thieves. For everyone out there considering travel Insurance pick your company carefully as they will undoubtedly find ways to deny your claim in a time of need. Heartbroken !!!!
From before the claim was denied. - For all who are asking, Sarah is fine now and feeling much better. For those who don't know. A few days ago Sarah started feeling a little crook and thinking it was just gastro we pushed on sailing into the Java sea bound for Jakarta.
When Sarah's pain and Illness increased we diverted to Jepara to try and find the nearest hospital. After a 3 hr very bumpy car ride and 5 hrs in the hospital she was admitted with acute appendicitis. Nervous about surgery in a foreign country but still acting like a trooper, Sarah went under the knife and and awoke 2 hrs later a few grams lighter.
Her apendix was about to make things really
Interesting and we're lucky they got it out in time.
Thank you so much for all the well wishes and support. She'll be back on the dance floor in no time.
Not sure what I'd do with out my first mate and am so impressed by her sheer determination and strength. Even with appendicitis and in reasonably uncomfortable seas she was still trying to do a shift at 2am to give me some time to rest and reluctantly and argumentitivly retired not to bed but the cockpit day bed to keep an eye on me.
This is the true version of a female/mother/wife sailor young girls should look up to not someone in a bikini laying on the foredeck.
I know these guys personally and from the bottom of my heart I can tell you, they’re just awesome. Down to earth epic people. If you can spare a few dollars please help us raise the money they lost xxx
