Sailing from Bermuda to Boston

Hello everyone!
My Name is Dave Donovan, I am a Senior Communications Major at Roberts Wesleyan College, and I am excited to say that I have booked a spot in the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall-Ships Regatta. This 7,000 nautical-mile sailing race will include over 40 of the world's most historic ships, and will span across 6 different countries. I have chosen to compete in leg 3 of the race, which will take place between Bermuda and Boston.
I fell in love with sailing at the young age of 11, when I was given the opportunity to sail for two summers on Lake Winnipesaukee. It was here that I learned valueable lessons about teamwork, determination, and commitment. Ever since then, I have had a deep love for the sport, and have been yearning for another opportunity to expand my sailing horizons (bad pun), and further challenge me to grow as a person. below is a list of what the funds will be used for:
$1335 - Cost of race aboard the Gulden Leeuw
$130 - One-way plane ticket to Bermuda
$90 - Traveller's insurance required to participate
Total - $1550
A deposit of roughly roughly $550 is due in 10 days, and as I am a full-time student, it will be very difficult for me to pay for the trip out of pocket.

It is hard for me to put into words how much I love sailing, and how thankful I am to the sport for its integral role in shaping who I am today. I would be so grateful for another opportunity to face that challenges and thrills of sailing. Any support would mean so much to me, and would be a huge help to me in getting to, and aboard, the beautiful Gulden Leeuw.
