Supporting Service Veterans via a sailing program
Since the Vietnam era more than 2000 veterans have committed suicide while more than four times that number have attempted suicide. The purpose of Sailing On is to stop these suicides through improving mental health and wellbeing through sailing.
The focus of Sailing On is to repair disused yachts and form teams to sail them. This will be achieved through learning new skills, engaging and developing as teams and communicating in a relaxed environment. The yachts are simply the mechanism where those who are in need of some help can participate in a sporting type environment that comes without judgement or personal sacrifice. Too many have sacrificed too much already.
We want to build a sustainable program that can be shared across the country and support as many of our fellow Australians as possible. It's a small price to pay for our freedom and to show our thanks for those that allow us to live the way we do.
No donation is too small, and will all help towards payment of our costs like pen fees and boat maintenance, however below are some examples if you need ideas:
$50 is enough to purchase a life jacket for a veteran in our program.
$100 is enough to help us buy supplies like paint and fiberglass.
$200 would cover the cost of a marine radio, helping our veterans stay safe on the water.
Even if you can't donate, please share the post, to help us reach more potential donors and help spread the word!
