Sajda Festival
Hi, my name is Rahul and I am the curator and producer of the Sajda Festival, UK. Season 3 of the festival-online and offline-that is being offered free of cost will bring top notch curated content that is editorially independent, multicultural, and inclusive. Eminent internationally acclaimed vocalists, instrumentalists and cine experts will enthrall Indian classical, popular music and cinema loving audiences. The content has been curated keeping in mind the current situation of stress and anxiety, digital burnout, a feeling of alienation and will enhance energy and uplift wellbeing.
The Festival aims to restore the rich Indian heritage and culture using the different performing arts. As music aficionados and active members of the community, we see the need to celebrate different genres, paying tribute to unsung heroes, reviving dying art forms and creating a platform for new talent in music and visual arts.
Funding will enable us to attract top talent and positively impact peoples’ emotional energy, forge cohesion in the community and educate audiences by restoring the heritage of Indian culture and arts. Artistes who will perform at the festival include Jayteerth Mevundi, Gayatri Asokan, Saleel Tambe, Craig Pruess, Anand Sundaram, Kirpal Singh Panesar among others. A retrospective of Satyajit Ray films will be screened. A major portion will be dedicated towards artiste payments and the rest will be utilised to meet overheads and social media advertising expenses. The funds will help bolster the pan UK presence of the festival and also enable to embed the festival into the cultural fabric of Manchester and North England.
The opening concert will be on July 4, 2021, with the formal launch on July 18, 2021 followed by other events spread throughout the year culminating in May 2022.
I earnestly appeal for your support and solicit your donations to make the festival sustainable.
On behalf of Sajda Festival,
Rahul Laud,
Curator & Producer
