Rebuild RAD Farmers Market After Hurricane

Along with so many other local businesses, the location of the RAD Farmers Market was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. It is reported that over 20 feet of water washed away our pavilion, the road, the parking lot, and the surrounding area.
We are deeply grieving the loss of our beloved space where we gather each week to share in community, connection, and nourishment.
The market is a 501c3 non-profit organization and is the only year-round weekday farmers market in the Asheville area- providing consistent access to fresh, local foods. We serve hundreds of SNAP/EBT customers and participate in multiple food access benefit programs.
The market hosts over 35 local small business vendors who rely on the market as a source of income. Several of our vendors were impacted by the storm and are in a state of emergency.
We are determined to relocate and reestablish a safe, stable, reliable farmers market to ensure our community continues to have access to high quality foods and to provide a gathering space to grieve, connect, and rebuild.
Please consider donating to support our relocation efforts. Funds will be allocated to the following:
- Recuperate the loss of physical possessions the market owned, which were washed away in the flood
- Continue to pay market staff working towards relocation efforts while the market has lost all weekly income
- Cover unknown costs of securing a new lease and purchasing new materials for the new location
- Any excess funds will be allocated towards a 'community pool' and shared with vendors who experienced extreme loss from the storm
