Most recently my uncle, Thomas Salbut, was diagnosed with stage III stomach/esophageal cancer. The cancer is aggressive and unfortunately this type of cancer does not present itself until the later stages when prognosis is poor. For over a year he has not been feeling well which has in turn caused him to be out of work for months at a time. During these periods, he was undergoing extensive testing and procedures to finally determine the diagnosis on February 20, 2019.
This diagnosis came as a complete shock and unfortunately right after what should be one of the happiest times in his life, getting married to his wife Holly. From diagnosis to now, it has been a frenzy of doctor’s appointment and emotions. This is a very difficult time for Thomas and family especially being that he has prided himself on being the ROCK in our family for years. Life has not always been easy. Thomas has faced many challenges including a tree stand accident which caused him to be out of work for 7+ months and most heartbreaking losing his family; 2 brothers, 1 sister and both parents.
Through all of it he has always held his head high, prided himself on being able to help our family with difficult decisions, supply tremendous support and financial assistance. Thomas has overcome a lot of odds and we’re hoping that he is able to fight the fight against this cancer and kick its ASS! If kindness, brotherhood, loyalty and love were the answer. Thomas would already have won this battle.
Thomas and Holly need our support! Thomas has been there for us and many have asked how they can help. We have come together to start this GoFundMe page to help the Salbut family tend to medical expenses that need to be addressed in a time when no one should be burdened with monetary concerns. We are hoping that with your kindness, love and generosity we will be able to provide relief and peace of mind for both of them during this difficult time. We have set a goal of $75,000 to help with existing/future insurmountable medical expenses from chemotherapy, radiation and major life changing surgeries.
