March 25th will be a day that will live with us all. The day a vibrant, full of life young man was so suddenly taken from us and another critically injured. Twenty-six years of life gave Mike many important titles. Letisia and Sabino Salinas proudly named him and got to call him “Son”. Esteban “Chino” and Sabino “Sonny” loyally called him “brother”. He was also given the title of “Uncle” by Gregorio but most importantly was called “Dad” by his beautiful, 7 year old daughter Yamileth, who he loved immensely. These are the individuals that will live with the burden of him being gone every second of their lives. His loyalty to his friends was like no other which is why it was so easy to love Mike. He lit up a room with his laugh and his dance moves were always center stage. He was strong, he was brave and was a FEARLESS PROTECTOR to a fault. As a friend I got the chance to see his kind soul, a man who would give the shirt right off his back if you needed it. All of this was fenced in by a tough exterior that only his family and close friends could crack. It was impossible to know that Saturday night would come and it would be the last time we’d get to spend and see our beloved Mike. A senseless act of coward ness altered the lives of the entire Salinas family and all those friends, like myself, who consider them family. Mike would want us all to show strength in a time like this so let’s come together and do just that.
So again, find it in your heart to help in any way you can. Any and all the help will be greatly appreciated. If the devastating loss of one son isn’t enough, their oldest son Sabino is still currently in the ICU in San Antonio, let us please not forget to keep him in our prayers.
“Today for them, Tomorrow for us.” God bless!
