Salman Family Sadaqa Jariya Fund

Donation protected
This fundraiser is supported by:  Ayesha Afzaal (sister of Salman) Sana Ghani (niece of Madiha)

***Salam
My name is Sana Yasir and I am the original creator of the gofundme page. I have received direct permission and approval from Ayesha Afzaal sister of Salman Afzaal. I have also spoken to a representative of the family at this time and has indicated that the family is well aware of the gofundme page and has approved of it.
I have personally known the family for 12 years now and have been very close family friends ever since, seeing them almost every week. We live down the street from this family and have bumped into them many times during their daily evening walks.
I am well aware that the family does not need any money for funeral expenses as that has been taken care of, however the family has given me permission that the money collected will be used in the form of sadaqa jariya inshAllah. The donations of this fund is being considered for fayez (in the future) as well as sadaqa jariya (stated below what this is). The immediate family members will make a final decision on the donation funds and where it will be going. They will release a statement letting everyone know. Please be patient.
I have spoken to London Muslim Mosque representative Ali Jomaa and Islamic Relief representative Saimah Sarwar and both parties have approved of this gofundme and are supporting it.
I am well known member of the London muslim community and have been trusted by many from London to organize this gofundme.
Please message me on Facebook at Sana Yasir (London, ON) for any other questions.
There is one launchgood page set up by family member in the states and islamic relief that is also being used to support the family. Either donating to this gofundme created by myself Sana Yasir or the launch good titled London Community United Against Hate created by Amenah Nomani and Islamic Relief.
Fayez is recovering and is accompanied by immediate family members (aunt and uncle). Fayez has a very strong support system-his immediate family, extended family, and the London community.
JazakAllah Khair****

On Sunday June 6th at 8:40pm, the Salman Family were targeted in a hate crime on their daily evening walk when a 20yr old white male murdered them with his truck and drove away. All family members, aside from 9-year-old Fayez, have since passed away. Fayez is in stable condition but remains in the hospital. This attack has been confirmed by the London Police to a be premeditated hate crime against muslims, the perpetrator has been arrested and has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

The London community is heartbroken in the wake of this devastating loss and act of hate. Mr. Salman Afzaal (46) was a physiotherapist and beloved member of the London community - whether at his local cricket matches or at the Masjid, the first thing to greet you would be his gentle and welcoming smile. His wife, Mrs. Madiha Salman (44) was in the process of working towards finishing her exams to obtain her PhD at Western University in Civil engineering; she was a brilliant scholar and a caring mother and friend. Yumna Salman (15), their daughter, a loving friend to many, was finishing up her grade 9 year at Oakridge Secondary School. Accompanying the family, was Yumna and Fayez’s grandmother (74), mother of Mr. Afzaal, who was a pillar of their family that cherished their daily walks. The family is survived by Fayez Salman (9) who is currently in the hospital and being supported by his extended family.

We understand that there is little we can do to ease the grief and trauma that Fayez and his extended family are going through, but we started this gofundme campaign to raise money so that the family can donate on behalf of the deceased. The family has indicated that they do not need financial assistance at the time however, if you would like to help and donate the money will be used as  Sadaqa-Jariya on behalf of the deceased. Sadaqa jariya is an important concept within Islam - it is a gift that not only benefits others in this life but also benefits us and our loved ones in the next. (Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated by Muslim) “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.”

The horrific nature of the crimes perpetrated against the Salman family serve as a reminder of the long shadow of Islamophobia that is cast on the lives of peaceful Muslim families across the world. This gofundme campaign is one of many ways the Pakistani community in London can support each other in the face of the hatred our community has undeservedly received in this instance and countless others. Ya Allah have mercy on this family and give sabr to Fayez and those who are affected by this horrible tragedy.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un | إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ | "Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return"

Thank you all kindly.
