Salmon Leap CC Embankment Project "Buy A Brick"

Donation protected
Salmon Leap CC want to develop river embankment in front of club house.

The shoreline embankment at Salmon Leap Canoe Club is retained by a system of railway sleepers that extend along the lakeside boundary. The original sleepers were installed by club members in 1974 and were sourced from the closed Edenderry railway branch line. Now, fifty years later, the sleepers are deteriorating, and a new embankment is required to future proof the club’s canoeing activities.

The club propose to install a segmented block retaining wall 0.7m high that has a textured limestone finish manufactured by Allan Block. Each row of blocks has a built-in setback to ensure a natural stable embankment.

Work is expected to commence towards the end of August and will take approximately 5 – 6 weeks to complete.
