Who?
Asia Martin and Angela Oliver have been friends for 8 years, initially meeting at Chicago’s Sketchfest. Both multi-disciplinary thespians who went to performing arts high schools and hold BFA in Theatre, they bonded over just wanting to be successful enough to have in unit washers and dryers. In 2016 they joined a spoken word improv group called PREACH. With PREACH, they toured nationally at festivals such as Black and Funny Fest (MN), The Nestival (OH),Diverse AF Festival (NY) and also performed all over Chicago at The Laugh Factory, The Revival and The Annoyance. As Mainstage Alums from The Second City in Chicago, they honed their hilarity and genius in Chicago before flying into the LA scene.

What?
Our one-act show swings from sketch, to lyric play to afrofuturistic joy ride. Think The Wiz meets In Living Color meets The Color Purple chronicling the journey of two high-school musical has-beens through an exploration of radical Black joy in the Hollywood shuffle. In the vein of the Dark Tower Salons of the Harlem Renaissance, there will be music, movement, and a living multidisciplinary performance that evolves with the audience in an intimate black box theater.
Each audience will experience live and unique performances that raise questions and spark honest conversations around centering radical joy.
This show premieres mid June 2025 at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Why?
We are thespians, comedians and poets tired of doing self tapes for stank face black lady and babymama #2. We created this show because we wanted to define ourselves for ourselves and have fun while doing it. We believe the Stephanie Fuery Theatre is the best venue to actualize our dreams of creating this show.

We need more art in the world that exists as a salve for the human heart. Help us create something we care about.

Even if you can’t donate, help us by sharing this page on your Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter!
