HELP WITH SAL'S EMERGENCY DENTAL PROCEDURE

My best friend of 7 years Salvador (Sal) needs help paying for his dental bills, because he was recently told he'll urgently need two crowns next month to prevent upcoming tooth decay and infection. The total cost will be $4,000, but insurance will only cover $1k. Sal's family is unfortunately unable to help, as his parents cannot afford to contribute much if anything. He recently needed a filling that cost $1,500, but was unable to afford it in the U.S., so he had to travel to Mexico where it was  cheaper.

Sal is a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara studying Psychology & Brain Sciences. He's hoping to apply to grad school next year with the goal of becoming a psychology professor. His parents were born and raised in Mexico and he's a proud member of the LGBT community.

Hesitation or delay in dental treatment can lead to far more complicated physical health concerns down the line, which could incur even more costs that insurance will likely neglect to cover. Being underinsured introduces huge out-of-pocket costs for medical procedures that are simply unaffordable for most people. It's so important to me that he gets the help he needs because money should never stand in the way of a person being healthy and able to live a full and happy life.
