Walk Around Salton Sea
Spende geschützt
Hello friends, family and anonymous supporters! My name is Randy Brown and I live in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I am raising money to help accomplish my personal challenge to be the first person to ever walk along the entire shoreline/circumference of California's ailing Salton Sea. But this not just a personal challenge - I also hope to bring some much-needed attention and awareness to the current plight of the Salton Sea.
The entire journey will be along the actual shore (except where prohibited by law or where impossible due to safety issues) not on the streets or roadways and to make the journey even more challenging I will be attempting to do it in summer where temperatures can reach as high as 123°F.
The total distance of the walk will be approximatley 116 miles, is expected to take 6 days, and is scheduled to begin on June 09, 2015. This is such an extreme challenge that a documentary film, produced by Black Moon Productions, is being made about my journey that is planned for debut at the 2016 Palm Springs Film Festival.
This is a death-defying challenge, and I can't do it alone! I will need to fund my safety & support team with fuel for the 4WD emergency vehicle, fuel for the motor home to store supplies, act as an emergency 'cool down' station and for sleeping each night. We need 2-way radios, food and water to support myself and the safety team for the week of the journey and boat rentals may also be necessary. We also need to pay for fuel and lodging to cover the dozens of scouting trips and practice walks that have already begun.
You can follow the planning for the walk at SaltonSeaWalk.com where I post reports on scouting missions, practice walks, photo's and videos, along with media reports and the status of the film. You can also follow live-tweets from practice walks on Twitter @SaltonSeaWalk. I hope you can contribute to help bring attention to Salton Sea and be a part of this fascinating journey.
Thank you.
