SALUTING THE SUN

We're excited to announce that the award-winning novel Saluting the Sun by Mary Hutchings Reed is now adapted into a fresh, new musical which will premiere November 24 through December 3 for seven performances at The Edge Theater in Chicago. Donna Steele, Founder of the acclaimed Steel Beam Theatre in St. Charles, IL, has created the book and Amy Steele, accomplished actor/singer of Naperville, IL, has composed the original score.

Saluting the Sun is a heart-warming story of hope and survival, and as such resonates with audiences of all ages particularly as we come out of the tragic pandemic we have all experienced. With your help we can produce a fresh, new musical with gorgeous music, meaningful lyrics and an uplifting message of resilience and learning from our past experiences, whether good or bad. With your help we will employ a small ensemble of actors, musicians, and theatre artists who will be integral to the collaborative process of presenting a new work. And with your help ticket prices will be kept low (in the $20-30 range) to encourage theater-lovers, especially younger adults, back to the theatre.

Theatre for us has always had as its mission to entertain, enlighten, and share the mysteries and wonders of our human experience. We are seeking to raise $10,000. We humbly ask that you share in bringing our new production to life. And we thank you for being part of this exciting new production!
