Camille OGrady: Art Preservation Funds

Our dear Camille passed away St. Patrick's Day of this year and we are mourning her loss from our shelter-in isolation.
Meanwhile, the legacy of our dear friend is in peril and her legal executor is requesting financial support from us who care about Camille's work so as to ensure that the following objectives be properly resolved in the wake of her passing:
- settle Camille's rents accrued during her hospitalization in all fairness to her landlord and roommates.
- promptly settle Camille's current Page Street storage unit payments before her belongings are recklessly disposed of.
- safely clear Camille's bedroom, preserving all Works of Art and related ephemera.
- upgrade Camille's storage for the next few months so that all her Works of Art be gathered in one place, inventoried and conserved.
- take actions to safeguard the archive with the proper institution.
- organize an exhibition or showcase honoring Camille's Life and Art in the months after Covid restrictions are lifted.
Not only did Camille perform at CBGB's and Max's Kansas City in the 60's and 70's but she also pioneered female drag as Jack Savage. She also was the first (and only) woman to ever perform in the notorious private NYC club The Mineshaft in the late 70s, as is documented in the 1978 French film, New York City Inferno. With partner Robert Opel Camille also created the infamous SOMA FeWay Gallery in San Francisco, embracing Queer Arts and Beat culture, and up to this last year was performing and generously volunteering art toward the 'Windows for Milk' annual art walk in the Castro.
We are in contact with the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco and will be working with them to preserve and protect her archives that document her role as the important culture maker, performance and visual artist that she was.
