Necesitamos una Casa Trans en Colombia

Donation protected

The Trans Community Network is a community-based organization led by transgender women that works to defend the rights of trans people in Colombia. During the last six years, we have worked hand in hand with trans women: victims of the armed conflict, deprived of liberty, street dwellers, sex workers and drug users.

Today we have the risk of having to close the doors of the organization. They took us out of what was our home for 4 years. We have been fighting with our fingernails for nine years in a world that refuses to recognize our existence and refuses to recognize our work as social leaders.
This house saw us grow during 4 years as an organization and as human rights defenders. We build a space of healing, endurance, and organized rage that, through creativity, humor, rage, and rebellion, subverts power relationships. We become a feminist tool where, every day, the "personal is political" thing is practiced.

During our time in this house, we had to live constant transphobic attacks on parts of some neighbors, they posted signs with hate speeches in our office, poured rotten water under our front door, collected signatures to take us out of our space with lies, prejudices, stigmas, and constantly criminalized our activities. They wanted us to get fed up, they wanted to take us out, they wanted to "clean" their building of whores and transvestites. They did not want to know that from marginality we built revolution.
And they did it, they took us out, and destroyed all the memorabilia plaques that we had so hardly installed to remind trans women that they have been killed.

We have been fighting with our nails for 9 years in a world that refuses to recognize our existence and refuses to recognize our work as social leaders. We continue to look for creative ways to be autonomous and independent to finance our work and today we need your support. We need to collect resources to be able to have our #CasaTrans in which we can continue fighting for the rights of trans people without being profiled, criminalized and violated.

Today more than ever we need your support in order to have a house of our own where sex workers and trans people can continue to dream and build a fairer world. We refuse to leave our neighborhood and will do everything we can to continue drawing with heart and anger a better future for trans people in Colombia.  We are women with plans for the future, politically organized, we will not give up until having a proper home for all those identities that have been erased and discriminated.

ALL YOUR SUPPORT COUNTS, HELP US TO SAVE THE RED COMUNITARIA TRANS (TRANS COMMUNITY NETWORK) AND CONTINUE TO MATERIALIZE THE RIGHTS OF TRANS PEOPLE IN COLOMBIA.  We are trans, sex workers, black, migrants, impoverished, and that does not make us any less than anyone. On the contrary, it constitutes the richness of our diversity.
