Sam & Alma Basile Relief Fund

Many of you know the health struggles that my friend Alma Basile has suffered over the past several years.  She beat breast cancer once in 2009 and had to retire after disc surgery and nerve damage to her leg in 2015.  She has not been so lucky this time.  Her cancer has returned and she had her left breast and several lymphnodes removed on November 16th of this year.  She will soon be starting chemotherapy as her battle continues.  Her husband Sam, as many of you know from Head Start, not only supports her but many of our children in the community by volunteering with his cooking in the summer.

It has come to my attention recently that Sam has developed debilitating arthritis and that Sam and Alma do not have working heat in their home or plumbing in their bathroom.  Due to the unbearable cost of the medical expenses and Sam's single income, they have become in dire need.  They have been too proud to ask for help, but have always been there for everyone around them.  Their son's have stepped up and are paying their mortgage, but the expense for the heat and plumbing are more than even they can afford with the cold winter closing in so quickly.

I am asking everyone to dig deep into their hearts and step up to show Sam and Alma how much they mean to us and our community.  They have always been there for us and shown all of us so much love and support and it is time we show them how much Glasgow loves and supports them.  Thank you in advance for anything you can do.  Any amount will be appreciated.   We have already had multiple estimates done.  They need a new heating unit and several plumbing repairs.  With the percentage that Gofundme takes removed from the equation, we will have to raise about $8000 and their children will cover any remaining costs.
