Sam Khalaf medical expenses
Donation protected
I met Sam about 10 years ago playing basketball at Lifetime fitness. Besides being an incredible player, Sam is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Talk to anyone that knows him, and that seems to be a common theme. Sam is genuine, honest, hard-working, responsible, and overall a lot of fun to be around. And despite his many basketball accolades in the Lifetime leagues, he is most proud of the “Best Sportsmanship” award that was voted on by the rest of the players. That is why it was such a blow to everyone when Sam was injured playing basketball on April 25th. After he went down and his leg was bent awkwardly, it was as if everyone felt the pain. We called EMS and tried to comfort him the best we could. Covered the leg so he would not look at it. Eventually he had to be flown by helicopter to the Houston med center for emergency surgery. An artery had been severed and there was a lack of blood flow to his left leg. 7 hours of surgery later, the doctors hoped that they made the necessary repairs. Unfortunately, it was determined that further surgery was needed the next day as the blood was still not flowing well enough. At the time I am writing this, Sam is scheduled to have his fourth surgery of the week as the medical team continues to clean up and attempt to close the wounds. I decided to start this page to help Sam and his family with the medical expenses that are still piling up. Not to mention his lost income while he recovers. Sam is still at the beginning of his recovery process. Most likely there will be additional surgeries after the swelling goes down to repair his ACL and MCL in his left knee. But Sam is strong. From the beginning he told me that he would be back, and better than ever! Please keep Sam in your thoughts and prayers, and consider donating whatever possible to help him recover financially.
Thank you!
