In Loving Memory of Sam Recine
January 30, 1962 – November 10, 2024
Sam Recine passed peacefully on November 10th, 2024, at the age of 62 from glioblastoma. His warmth, kindness and unwavering love made him an extraordinary man; a father, a friend and a source of joy to all who knew him.
Sam had an incredible gift for making friends wherever he went, striking up conversations and making everyone he met feel comfortable, valued and heard. His contagious smile, large presence and positive and boundless energy lit up every room. His kindness, curious nature and sense of humour left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. Sam was eager to offer his help to anyone in need without hesitation. His enthusiasm and wit were authentic, magnetic and all-encompassing, bringing vibrancy to everyday life in all the many things he enjoyed—whether revving up one of his classic muscle cars, jamming out to Led Zeppelin, savouring his favourite Chinese cuisine, playing hockey with his friends, watching movies, cooking, laughing, gardening with his wife or spending quality time with his beloved family. Sam was also incredibly dedicated and passionate about his work, where his intelligence and clever mind thrived.
As a devoted father, Sam poured his love, wisdom and encouragement into his children, guiding them with patience and belief in their potential. His legacy of selflessness, integrity and compassion will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be affectionately remembered by his best friend and loving wife of 36 years, Mary, his children, Vanessa, Sabrina and Steven, and daughter-in-law, Gemma, along with his parents, Mario and Veneranda, brother, Marcello, and sister-in-law, Felicia. He was also very close with members of his extended family including his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, in-laws and friends. His big heart and caring nature created strong and loving bonds with many.
We will gather to honour the man who brought so much love and light into our lives at Bradford’s Skwarchuk Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception.
While Sam will be deeply missed, he will be carried on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
“To know him is to love him.”
