Samantha Underwood

On Thanksgiving day, Samantha and Austin were on their honeymoon in Jamaica. That morning Samantha had a grand mal seizure that left her in ICU for 2 days. The day of her discharge, Austin was able to get her back to the United States. We thought that was the end of a very scary situation, but it wasn’t. Her symptoms continued, so he took her to an ER where they immediately started running tests.

Since the 26th of November, she has been hospitalized in Fort Worth. The severe infection of her brain has left her with physical, emotional and mental pain we cannot begin to imagine. She has a long road to recovery and that is why we are reaching out on behalf of them. She has had several major setbacks during her stay, as well as several major improvements. This has been difficult to watch to say the least, but her strength and sense of humor has eased our hearts.

Her next step when she is cleared involves a transfer to a neurological rehabilitation facility.

Any contribution will impact life moving forward. It will help with bills regarding travel, medical, new consultations, treatments, etc. Please continue to pray for our girl, our brother in law, family, and the medical staff on her team.

Update as of 12/25/23:

Samantha was moved to rehab on the 23rd, which we were all excited to get started. A step towards the end of this. Unfortunately, on Christmas Eve she wasn’t responding well, so her physician had her transferred to the Baylor ER. They moved her to ICU after the initial tests were done. We are hopeful that having a new set of eyes on her case will move us forward in the direction we want. Keep praying for our girl!
