Life Saving Surgery For Samantha
Donation protected
Samantha Harris was diagnosed with scoliosis when She was around 7. She wore a back brace for a few years and then stopped wearing it because of bullying. The curve began to get worse and worse but however because of such low weight She was unable to have the surgery. Then after gaining weight and slipping through the cracks of the system they decided the would do the surgery at the Royal children's in Melbourne the next week. Because of Sams anxiety it was simply to soon to do it and freaked out. They then decided it would be best to transfer Sam to Brisbane where She is living. And going private was the only option as She needs surgery ASAP .
The surgery will involve 3 months in a halo and gravity traction at home...Then after they are happy with how the halo has worked they will do spinal fusion surgery to make sure it won't go back to how it was. Sam is currently on multiple pain medication and finds it hard to walk more the 150m at a time...so the surgery is a must because without it not only will the pain get worse but her spine will crush her organs and Sam will end up in a wheelchair and eventually die without the surgery.
