Samantha's Endometriosis Surgery Fund

Hi, my name is Samantha and I've recently began suffering with severe, chronic pelvic pain which has completely taken over my life and has me consumed.

When it all started, I knew something was very wrong and the first thing I did was go to my doctor. After multiple doctor and hospital visits, I have had all of the tests done to rule out all possible conditions and after seeking many different opinions, several doctors are in agreement that I have endometriosis - all that's left to confirm and treat it, is surgery.

However, the NHS waiting times have become increasingly long and I have been told I will have to wait at least 65 weeks for the surgery.

The pain has taken away enough of my life and had such a profound impact on my wellbeing that I am no longer able to wait out the long waiting lists and I have therefore decided I must have the surgery done privately if I am to make the most of my mid twenties.

Since the pain came on, I have been unable to focus on my studies or enjoy my hobbies. I am scared to leave the house or attend social events for the fear of a surprise pain flare-up. This has had a negative impact on my quality of life, and subsequently, my mental health. Words can't express enough what getting the surgery would mean to me - it would mean getting my life back and improving the lives of those around me who are affected by my suffering and saddened to witness the pain I go through on a daily basis.

I have tried all of the pain meds from paracetamol to morphine and nothing seems to work. When the intense pain flare comes on, there is nothing I can do and I am at the mercy of my pain until it's over and back to the moderate, continuous pain, which, although I'm able to grin and bear, still takes it's toll. I feel permanently exhausted from the constant pain and there is no let up from it.

I have found a clinic comprised of a multidisciplinary team specialising in endometriosis and pelvic pain who are highly recognised for the remarkable work they do for women across Europe, based in the heart of Bucharest, Romania. Not only do they have astounding standards for level of care according to testimonials, but they are also very affordable, especially in comparison to the private healthcare the UK has to offer.

The waiting timeframe I have been given is 2-3 months. Although this seems unimaginable to be able to suffer for that much longer, it is nothing compared to the 65+ week wait for surgery on the NHS which to me, feels like forever away.

Endometriosis is a common condition affecting 1 in 10 women, many of whom don't experience any symptoms or they come on later in life, or their only symptom is infertility which affects 30-50%.

I can't bear to put my life on hold for much longer, especially when my dream of becoming a mother one day is hanging in the balance.

You can make a difference to my life as it is now and to my future by giving whatever you can spare. By giving your support, you are changing my life for the better. A small gift of £5 will lead me closer to this life changing surgery.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you can spare just a little, I will be eternally grateful for your support.
