Sammi's Service Dog

Donation protected

My name is Edyie and I'm a single mom to Sammi.

Samantha is 18 years old and is heading far away from home to attend college in Pennsylvania.  She plans to study epidemiology, which she found a passion for in the light of the current pandemic outbreak and her germaphobia situation.

For the last few years she has been struggling with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and germaphobia that have made day to day life very difficult for her. A few months ago she started to see a therapist who diagnosed her with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and anxiety.  Day to day life feels like a chore to Sam.  Activities such as driving to the store, going to work, preparing for college, and moving away from home give her severe anxiety and trigger panic attacks.  She constantly worries about her social accounts being hacked and the possibility of everything making her sick. She won't touch anything in public, eating has gotten difficult because she's worried about what or who has touched the food or eating utensils. The fear of germs from this pandemic have made her wash her hands to the point where they are so cracked that she has to sleep with gloves filled with lotion on her hands.  All of this has taken a toll on her mental state and confidence and she constantly battles with dark thoughts.

Her therapist and doctor ordered a service animal trained for her to deal with day to day life and to be specialized in recognizing and dealing with panic attacks and other triggers.  This is an animal and friend that she would take with her to college and help her through day to day life to combat the difficulties she faces.

We went ahead and found a puppy, which is a 12 week old Britney Spaniel whom she named Magnus after a character from her favorite book series.  After having him evaluated and placed in a training program we were hit with the information that his training will cost a minimum of $18,000 by the end of the year. (Puppy tuition is $185 per day until the end of the year).  $5,000 of this will be needed by the end of August.

It's difficult for me to ask for help like this but at this point in time as a single mother with a limited income, finding the money is very difficult and we would appreciate whatever you could spare. Even the shares of this post would help!

We placed Magnus at K9 Country Club (www.k9countryclubspokane.com) where you could view his training progress.
