Sammie’s Brain Cancer Milestone

Donation protected
1 year has passed.

Since finding out I had a brain tumor I have: had 2 brain surgeries, learned I had cancer, stayed 10 days in the hospital, received 1,075 minutes of radiation treatment, had a port placed in my chest, had that port accessed over 42 times, undergone 11 chemo infusions (so far), lost my hair 2 times (and counting), and sat through over 20 MRIs. And still plenty more to go.

I have also celebrated birthdays, holidays, and milestones. I have spent the last year looking at life through a completely new lens, but one that I would never wish on anyone. Most importantly I have spent this year surrounded and held so tightly by love.

During this year it has proved very difficult to do the things I need to do to support myself, particularly working. My boyfriend, Mike, shows up in every way imaginable and gives me endless love and compassion. I have an incredible family that does everything they can to provide me with assistance and love. I have a job where I have been blessed with the ability to listen to my body and show up when it allows. Harriton High School continues to be one of my favorite communities of people.

So… I am reaching out to the community of people that have been nothing but supportive and full of love countless times before. The effects of chemotherapy have made it extremely difficult to work enough to support myself. Any donation that you are willing to provide will help me live a somewhat normal life in a world that is not normal for me. It will help me buy clothes for my ever-changing body, gas to get in and out of center city (sometimes multiple times a week), activities to take my mind off the state of my world, self-care that helps me feel more like myself and pay for whatever food my body will happen to tolerate that week, day or hour.

I am endlessly grateful to every single person that sends me love, prayers, and good thoughts. For those that have donated to my life in the past, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am working every day to be more accepting of my need to ask for help during this whirlwind time. Especially, when I love more than anything to be that support person for other people in my life.
