Sammy and Kaitlyn funds for families stay

Sammy Sutton (22) and Kaitlyn Johncox (22) were involved in a terrible accident on Wednesday night (August 12). The girls were on a camping trip in the UP. The crash occurred on M-28 in Alger county, Michigan. Sammy and Kaitlyn were in the back seat when the car was hit by a semi truck. All three girls were transported to UP Health System-Marquette. The driver of the vehicle is stable and will be okay. Kaitlyn needed to be air lifted to the hospital due to the extent of her injuries. She is currently stable and responsive but sedated due to the pain. She has a fractured neck, broken ribs, three breaks in her pelvis, a collapsed lung, and tears in her brain that are causing swelling. She needs surgery on her back/pelvis. Sammy on the other hand, has not woken up since the crash. She is currently in a coma with severe brain swelling and bleeding. She had to have two holes drilled into her skull to release the pressure and the spinal fluid liquids trapped inside. One of her hearts ventricles did seize, but has since released itself. Her arm has also doubled in size and we think this is her only broken bone. Sammy is breathing on her own with the ventilator on stand by just in case. The final outcome of the girl's futures is still unknown as the families are staying in the UP until further notice. The recovery from this will likely be long and hard. The families will need to be staying away from home as most traveled from southeast Michigan. I want to help raise money for the room fees, food, future medical expenses, and anything else they might need. I don’t want the families to have any extra worries or concerns so they can continue focusing on our girl's recovery!
