Hi, my name is David, I’ve started this go fund me to help out my dad, Sammy, and stepmother Betty, with expenses they are incurring due to and are about to incur with his treatments. To give a brief synopsis of what is happening, dad went to the doctor a year ago complaining of his throat bothering him and his voice was starting to get raspy. The doctor said that they could not find anything and diagnosed it as acid reflux. He went to the same doctor several times and they would give him the same story. He finally went to another doctor about 5 weeks ago and on the first visit the doctor found cancer wrapped around his vocal cord, carotid artery, and started in his thyroid (Anaplastic thyroid Carcinoma). He cannot have surgery to remove it because of it’s location but they are attempting treatments (Chemo and radiation). We are attempting to get him to MD Anderson where there is a doctor that specializes in the above listed cancer. Within one month he has had to get a trac and feeding tube.

My dad retired about 7 months ago after working his whole life. My stepmom had to leave her job to help out with dad this last month. My dad has always been one to help out anyone that needed it without ever asking for anything in return. He’s not asking for this now, my sister, Tonya and I are. We want our dad and stepmom to be able to concentrate on the treatments and dad getting better and not have the worry on being able to cover the expenses of travel and lodging.
