Sammy the Rescue Dog's Ear Surgery Fund

Thank you for visiting our page! My name is Casey—Our family is starting a fund for our rescue pitbull, Sammy, as we are being faced with the potential of reconstructive surgery on his Ears (best case scenario he will require months/years of testing and therapies given intravenously). He has been diagnosed with Otitis Externa, which has essentially caused his ear canals to begin closing up. Despite several inquiries at the vet, his condition remained undetected until now. At this point we are just grappling with the minimum costs laid out before us—we are expecting a minimum of $5,000. We will not be able to meet with the local specialist until the end of January at which point we will learn whether or not his case is chronic, or end-stage. Until then he is being medicated to try to stop the growths in his canals. We do not yet know the cause of this, but do know that the long-term threat for our little guy is that he could be left completely deaf, or worse.
Sammy came to us through the Humane Society in 2017 at 2 years old. He spent the first 2 years of his life outdoors in a small crate, rain or shine. When adopted, Braden (his dad) was tasked with bringing him up to weight, and giving him proper medical attention for his heartworm & ear infection, all while teaching him the concept of play & using stairs, amongst other “normal” doggy behavioral skills. Sammy maintains scars from his treatment prior to his life with us, and most of his teeth are worn down significantly (this is thought to be from chewing on the crate he’d been held in).
At 5 years old, Sammy is our baby. He goes everywhere we go—shopping, the gym, trips, and play dates. He is a gentle, lazy good boy that enjoys all of the snacks and adventures he can get his paws on. Braden and I would not be together had Sammy not been a little matchmaker (I used to board dogs until this dude came into my life and I chose to become his forever mom instead). We are just completely in love with this pitbull, and we know Sammy is so loved by all of our friends and family. We are so sad to share that he is facing this battle. We are committed to doing whatever we can to give him the best outcome, as we made that promise to him when he was rescued. We are staying optimistic through this process. Any donation & prayers will help, and we hope to be updating you all with the best news possible in the coming months. Please know, Any donations we do not use will be donated in good faith to the Humane Society. #SammytotheRescue Thank you for your love and kindness! --Casey, Braden & Sammy
