Sammy's All Terrain Buggy
Donation protected
Hi. Sammy is our 7 year old son blessed with Downs Syndrome. He also has Extreme Hypermobility and Global Development delay. Alongside this he has multiple sensory issues and although he can say a few words he is described as Non-Verbal.
He has a very short attention span and gets frustrated easily, which manifests with him throwing things or hitting out. He does not interact with his peers readily, preferring his own company. An ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) assessment is currently ongoing.
We are looking to raise £2662 to provide a specialist all terrain buggy for Sammy so that we can take him out and about as he absolutely loves the outdoors. The NHS does not provide funding for this type of buggy. Sammy is currently using an NHS provided wheelchair which is only really suitable for shopping trips or areas that are paved. This has now become unfit for purpose as Sammy can wriggle out of it!
Sammy is a very happy and loveable child. He is quite feisty and has tremendous upper body strength. He is comfortable in his own environment and loves his tablet, going swimming and having fun at the park.
Your help and support will mean we can get out and about as a family and we would be so very grateful. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
