On Monday, October 19th, Sarah and Joe took Sammy to the ER because he experienced severe headaches over the previous ten days. He was an advocate for himself, telling his symptoms and knowing that it didn't feel normal. Sammy also had an angel in his corner, his nurse at St. Wenceslaus, who listened to him, was thoughtful, and was also his advocate. Sarah and Joe listened and went to have the MRI. Heartbreakingly, the doctors discovered that a tumor was causing his headaches on his brain's left side, which is cancer. It's news that is impossible to comprehend as Sammy is a full-spirited nine-year-old boy with everything to offer the world. The fight has commenced, and we know the journey will be challenging. Our family is so overwhelmed with love and are deeply grateful to our family and friends. We are believers in God and the power of prayers. Please keep the prayer chain healthy and active. Thankfully, we have a fantastic group of doctors on Sammy's case who share the undeniable fighter's instinct. Sammy is a fighter, and we all thank you for being in his corner.
