Sam's Battle with Brain Cancer

Hi, my name is Bethany and I am fundraising for my beloved friend Vanessa's family. Many of you know Vanessa from her furniture store "Ambient Living" here on Ottawa St in Hamilton. Her father Sam was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous brain tumour this past summer. Sam is a wonderful husband, loving father of 3, beloved son & brother and a special friend too many. He's been working full time during his cancer treatments, care giving to his elderly parents (who have also been sick in the hospital) all while driving 2+ hours from Bond Head to Toronto Western Hospital for chemo and radiation treatments. He has been doing this all well still having a smile on his face and making his goofy jokes! Most recently the swelling in his brain has greatly affected his ability to walk, talk and his short term memory. Last week he was rushed to the hospital because of his motor skills not working as well as his elderly mother in law for an emergency surgery. Vanessa's car broke down on her way to be with her family & still has not been fixed. She has been using our friends vehicle in the mean time to drive her family to and from the hospital. You can imagine how stressful, exhausting & what an emotional rollercoaster this has been for the entire family. This family is very proud Italian (if you've been raised Italian you know what I am talking about) and would never dream to ask for charity. (as I'm writing this I can see Nona's wooden spoon coming out to slap me lol). Jokes aside, I can no longer stand to watch my friend and her family suffer through these hard times without more support. Finances should be the last thing on their minds! The funds will be used to help the family while they aren't able to work while caring for her father, her grand parents and to help fix Vanessa's car.
