Sam's Trans Health Fund

Earlier last year I had a consultation for some gender-affirming healthcare that I need, and was somewhat demoralised to learn that the whole procedure is looking to take about two years and cost approximately $30,000 all up across those two years of sessions.

In the process of us figuring out how we're going to get that kind of money together, throwing a fundraiser party was pretty high on the list of options, as was running a separate fundraiser. I feel so lucky to have the kind of community around me that would facilitate these things, and it's taken a little while but I'm so excited to have both locked in and going ahead.

Obviously $30,000 is a wild amount of money to try and fundraise, but with this fundraiser in combination with my own savings and the fundraiser party, starting treatment soon is beginning to feel like an achievable goal.

There is also the possibility that my body takes to the treatments a lot better than we are expecting, which would mean that I would need less sessions. All money raised will be kept in a separate account and only used for these treatments. In the unlikely (but possible!) occasion that we raise more money than I actually end up needing, any surplus will be directly passed on to other fundraisers for gender-affirming care.
