Samuel Dylan Figueroa Fund

My Brothers and Sisters in Blue and other friends,

Our friend and fellow officer is in need of financial help. Officer Sam Figueroa (Retired) has been, over the past several months, doing his best to care for his son (Sam D. Figueroa). Sam was living in Glendale California where he was gainfully employed until his lay off several months ago. After this he began to spiral into a deep and severe state of depression. He stopped all forms of communication with anyone. Because of this a welfare check was done and it was ultimately determined that Sam was unable to care for himself and was gravely ill. Sam was living in his bathtub, and he did not appear to have eaten or bathed in quite some time. Due to all circumstances, he was 5150’d.

Upon release he was moved to Northern California in Brentwood to reside with his mother. Due to his condition and another diagnosis of schizophrenia, this did not last long, and Sam was moved to an extended stay in Pleasant Hill. There Sam was receiving food daily from his father but would not communicate or allow him into the room. Due to lack of funds his father could no longer house him there. NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) was contacted and has been working with his father to help Sam. Sam has resisted all attempts for help and is now currently homeless and his mental illness goes untreated.

The good news is that Sam has a father, mother and stepmother that loves him and will continue to fight for their son to get the help he needs whether through private or public means. As we all know, the public means (aka “the system”) is a disaster and often overlooks or just doesn’t have the resources to provide aid. Sam’s parents are also contemplating a conservatorship. This can be a long and expensive endeavor. This whole situation has put Officer Sam Figueroa in considerable financial debt. So, if you are able and so inclined, please donate to this Go Fund Me so Officer Figueroa can continue to fight to get his son the care his son needs while not putting his family in financial danger.

The Figueroa Family is appreciative of all of the support they are receiving but are also requesting that their privacy be respected as they are all going through a very difficult time. And questions or concerns can be directed to Tony Washmera.

Thank you.
