Update: Wow. Words cannot express how overwhelmed we are by this outpouring of support for Sam and his family. We are hopeful of surpassing our fundraising goal and we will keep this link active after doing so. All donations will help Kristen and the family with travel and costs for services. Thank you.
While it pains us to write this, we wanted to share the news of the unexpected passing of our friend, son, brother, and cousin, Samuel Norton.
Sam passed away on Sunday, August 27.
As we begin to process our loss, the memories and lessons Sam created with and taught to us over the years will never be forgotten. A devoted brother and son, Sam was a rock for his family. He was always there for his two sisters Lucy and Maggie, taking great care of them through every milestone. Sam loved his mother Kristen with all his heart, and it was obvious to everyone in their lives that they were inseparable. They are a family who push each other to be the best versions of themselves.
Sam always made the impossible seem possible. He was a three-year varsity football player at Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury and was a strong leader even before he was named a team captain. Aside from his accomplishments on the field, Sam was a terrific and dedicated student - so much so that he locked himself in his bedroom on a Saturday to study for a final exam freshman year. Sam was recognized by everyone in the halls at Saint John’s as he volunteered for campus ministry events, mission trips, and school masses. As a shock to no one who knows Sam’s drive and intelligence, he moved to New York City after graduating from Boston College where he began his successful career in the finance industry.
Throughout his life, Sam was always dedicated to sports and fitness. He took his passion for self-betterment and his competitive nature to the running trails as he frequently ran in long-distance road races across the country.
Everyone looked up to Sam; being around Sam made us stand a little taller and work a little harder. He was a hero to so many - a friend and family member who stayed in touch. Checked in. Cared. Inspired us all.
For everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Sam, the memory of his infectious smile and work ethic will continue to keep us all going. We also take peace knowing Sam will always be with us, guiding us in our own lives until we meet again.
To help Kristen and the Caisse/Norton family with funeral and other expenses, we set up this GoFundMe. Any and all donations would be graciously appreciated by all of Sam’s friends and family.
It’s time for the next chapter of Sam’s legacy to begin. We love you Big Red, Sam, Sammy, Ginga Ninja, now and always.
