The family would to thank everyone for the outpour of love, support, and prayers during our loss of Coach Samuel 'Pookie' Shortz. Because of you, we have reached our goal to give him a proper burial. Again thank you, each and every one of you for your donation.

In honor of Coach Samuel Pookie Shortz III,

He was a coach, father, brother, friend, and son that has encouraged , loved, and sacrificed for his players, family, and friends. He has poured his heart into everything that he has done. God gave him a heart for coaching and mentoring children. He has tried to make every child’s life better. He was a very special man, and he dedicated his life to helping others no matter what race, creed, or gender. He was truly one of a kind.

We are all devastated by his unexpected loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. Therefore, we want to give Sam the memorial that he deserves, to honor him, and say our last goodbyes. The family is currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of the funeral and services. Any amount will help. Everyone please stay strong, because that’s what he would have wanted. Thank you everyone.. and WE MISS YOU POOKIE!
