Samuelson Family Adoption

Nick & Hannah's story-
Nick and I have always known we wanted children. Even before we were married, we both expressed interest in adoption someday. We believe that God adopted us unconditionally, and we want to show that same love, patience, and sacrifice to a child. What we didn't expect is that it would happen this early in our marriage. Sadly, a year ago we learned that short of a true miracle, it would be impossible for us to have biological children, even via IVF. Shortly after receiving this news, we decided to begin the adoption process.
After researching adoption clinics in the twin cities, we decided to go through New Life Adoptions. They do an incredible job preparing families for adoption and have a very thorough process. As a result, our timeline could be quite long. We began the process with New Life in early summer 2022, and could potentially not have a finalized adoption for another two years. We are currently (Feb '23) waiting 6 to 9 months just to start the home study process, which can then take 6 months to complete. After that, we will be placed on the list to be chosen by a birth family. It's hard to predict how long it could take to be chosen, so we will have to be prepared to take a baby in at any point after being placed on the list.
We are very grateful for the friends and family that have reached out to us asking how they support Nick and I through this process. We are humbly asking that you consider supporting us financially. The cost of adopting through New Life is $20,000 in total. Funds are due in increments at different points in the process. Another way we could use your support is through prayer.
Here's how you can be praying for us:
- For unity between Nick & I through the adoption process
- That God would prepare us well for parenthood as we wait
- For a good relationship with the birth family after adoption, and courage to be loving and patient with them as we learn to navigate caring for our child
- That our marriage would grow stronger in the time leading up to adoption
Despite initial grieving hearing that we are unable to have biological children, Nick and I look forward with hope to what God has in store for our family. A song that Nick and I have sought comfort in during this time is "Lord From Sorrows Deep I Call". It has really spoken to us and encouraged us throughout this process.
With love,
Nick and Hannah
