San Anselmo Mask Trees
Donation protected
AGE-FRIENDLY SAN ANSELMO has been providing free masks on the new town park trees to encourage all visitors and residents to wear a mask at all times to protect others. Over 340 masks have been donated by a few residents and by our partner Whistlestop since the new "On the Avenue" park opened. However in order to continue this program we now need donations to purchase the fabrics and supplies and labor time for our local residents who are making them.
Masks have been taken by visitors dining in town, by children who do not have a mask and by the occasional homeless visitors.
The idea for the mask trees came after Age-Friendly San Anselmo heard Marin Resident Dr. Larry Brilliant mention the mask trees in the Czech Republic that are a form of solidarity and self-help. People sewing masks are hanging them on trees outside their homes and the initiative has involved the whole country, leading to the creation of online maps showing the places where you can get a homemade mask for free.
San Anselmo wants everyone coming to town to think of others by choosing to wear a mask properly. Business owners are able to continue offering their services, goods, and food when everyone is following the local mandate. Learning that residents from other towns have noticed the commitment to mask wearing in San Anselmo compared to their own towns and watching children and adults walk up and choose the mask that best fits their personality has been a great motivation to continue this program. Let's help to end this pandemic and provide masks to everyone who needs them!
Anything you can manage to give makes a huge difference in the lives of our residents and the resilience of our community seniors! Masks cost $7 on average.
We have neighbors and community organizations in the Canal District that really need masks. They don't have enough to hand out with the food and or while offering medical and social services. Let's help them get the masks they need too by donating one for for the Canal District organizations for every one you donate for San Anselmo.
From $2 to $200 let's show how San Anselmo is Strong, but also Compassionate!
