San Diego, Southcrest - Flood Recovery Fund

Hello, my name is Minoh and I'm trying to raise some flood recovery funds for my elderly parents who are nearly 40 year residents of Southcrest. They live on Birch St, adjacent to Chollas Creek which flooded during the Jan 22nd rainstorm. Their street was particularly hard hit and you can see some of the flood damage in this local CBS News Report link.

Here is their home location from a local news chopper view. You can see how devastated the neighborhood is and the proximity of Chollas Creek on the right side. The creek is the storm drain with a forest growing from it.

My parents are both in their 70's and live on a fixed income. My Father, David is retired Navy and worked at the the nearby 32nd street Naval Base. My Mother, Sukhui was a wonderful stay at home mom who volunteers all of her spare time at her Church and helps organize the local Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive every year. You might recognize her if you have been involved in that drive for the past 25 years. Here is a photo of them with a grand daughter.

They lost nearly all of their possessions and two cars. All of their appliances were water damaged and thrown out with nearly all of their furniture. They don't have Flood Insurance and are likely going to pay out of pocket to cover the costs to rebuild. Right now we are just trying to clean up, sort out next steps and figure out how to recover from this devastation. The entire situation is emotionally and financially overwhelming. They are staying at a nearby lodge but the costs are straining.

All funds would help pay for Water Damage Restoration services. Your assistance would be very welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
