Due to the pandemic and the ongoing closure of the War Memorial Opera House, our members have experienced drastic reductions in their salaries. Your gift will directly aid orchestra members and our season substitutes of the SF Opera Orchestra, some of whom are experiencing severe financial hardships during this difficult time. Any amount would go a long way to support our musicians. Thank you for your generosity! We look forward to the day when we are able to be back in the Opera House performing for our beloved audiences once again.
The SAN FRANCISCO OPERA ORCHESTRA has faced crises before. We’ve faced earthquakes and the national tragedy of 9/11; we’ve faced the shuttering of the War Memorial Opera House as it closed for repairs. Each time we continued to perform.
This year, we’ve been called upon to reinvent ourselves. Our goal is to continue our live performances. In the Fall, the orchestra self produced numerous Public Outdoor Performances (affectionately known as POP!s) in several Bay Area locations. We hope to continue to create the energy that comes from gathering together to share live music, as soon as regional guidelines and the weather allow us to do so.
Having a relationship with you, our audience, is a privilege. We look forward to nurturing that relationship in new and different ways until we can safely join together again in the Opera House.
