San Jose Elementary School Soccer Goals

The NexGen Foundation is a Jacksonville-based non-profit whose mission is to empower local communities through academic, humanitarian, and environmental initiatives in support of Florida's next generation.

Our office is located at 2862 Ballard Oaks Rd., which is shared with San Jose Elementary School. For years, we've passed by the fields, enjoyed the kind staff, and wondered about our neighbors and what we could do for them. One day we asked.

After meeting Principal Gomez and later having her speak to our staff, we understood how special this place was and how we were uniquely positioned (figuratively and literally) to positively impact their campus.

San Jose Elementary is a Title 1 school home to many students from various backgrounds who often come from financially distressed situations. When taking a tour to understand what NexGen could help with, Principal Gomez took us to the soccer fields. This is where students from all different cultures come together every day to play the game that unites them all - soccer, football, or fútbol, depending on where you're from. The only problem was that the goals consisted of a few traffic cones and a piece of material strung between two posts. This presented a great opportunity.

This summer, we are setting out to raise funds to give these young students a field they can be proud of. With your help, we will raise the funds necessary to provide these kids with brand-new, high-quality soccer goals that will last many years.
