SAN LUCAS QUIAVINI FIRE & EMERGENCY FUND

Hi, my name is Jose Curiel and I am from San Lucas Quiavini, OAX. Two days ago a fire started in the mountains of our town and has spread into a wildfire as conditions are hot and dry. The volunteers from our town have tried to extinguish the fire, but to no avail as it continues to spread further into other nearby towns San Bartolome, Matatlan, Guila and others. Our towns are not well equipped to combat such emergencies and those who volunteer differ from age groups. Most are our parents, uncles, brothers, nephews, cousins and many more that are willing to sacrifice their lives to ensure other families are safe from the fire. Yesterday five members of our community of San Lucas Quiavini were reported missing - Rafael Antonio Morales, Pedro Curiel, Jose Hernandez, Felipe Garcia y Celso Diego. Unfortunately, today their bodies were found in the debris of the fire as they were trapped. We are asking for assistance as a community to send money to our family members that we lost in this devastating fire and to help out our town from getting water, food and medicine as many others have been hurt from fighting this fire.
