Support San Mateo Flood Victims
Donation protected
Too many San Mateo residents and business owners are struggling after the storm. Many have incurred thousands of dollars in damages to their homes and businesses, losing irreplaceable heirlooms and years of investments.
As the Mayor of the City of San Mateo, the largest city in San Mateo County, I believe in the generosity and resiliency of our community. We could not wait for FEMA or the State, we needed to step up when we saw our neighbors and our local businesses in need. That is the San Mateo Way. San Mateans want to help folks get back on their feet.
On February 6th, I asked my council colleagues to support a funding allocation from the City and a proposal to administer the fund through a nonprofit partner. The San Mateo council approved an additional allocation of $150,000 of City funds and a contract with our local nonprofit to administer the San Mateo Flood Relief Fund.
We are thrilled to partner with Samaritan House, a core service agency in the County that specializes in case management, and vetting program benefit eligibility and can tap into wrap-around services when needed.
Applications for the combined $200,000+ San Mateo Flood Relief Fund will be available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Eligible San Mateo residents and businesses can apply for grant assistance for up to $5,000 - applications will open soon!
The need is so great and your donation will make a difference. Together we can help flood victims in the City of San Mateo receive relief and support.
Sincerely,
Mayor Amourence Lee
