Hello, I´m Cindy and this is the third year of this project. The story starts in 2020, when we all experienced a new and challenging stage, COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout 2020, I noticed the difficulties many people were facing around the world. In particular, witnessing mothers and fathers struggle to put food on their family´s tables. Needless to say, 2020 exacerbated everyone´s problems and I searched for a way to help.

Ultimately, I decided to support a small Mexican community where I spent much of my childhood, San Miguel, Villa Purificacion in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Given the remoteness of this village, access to fresh food was difficult due to delayed shipments during lockdowns. The town was struggling and I knew providing food, however small the amount may be, would help assuage the problem. Thus, the project was born.

By December of 2020, I was able to donate 10 boxes of food for families of the town. I continued the project the following year, increasing the total number of boxes to 30 as well as toys for the town´s children during the Christmas holiday.

Witnessing the gratitude of parents when they receive the boxes of food, and the joy in their children´s faces when they have a new Lego set or Barbie doll to play with is an unforgettable memory. It brings me great joy to be able to contribute and give back to the community that so freely gave to me when I was a child. I hope to share these lasting memories with you later this year.

My goal this year is to be able to supply 160 boxes (equating to one box per household) along with toys again for the children. Each box costs $25 USD ($500.00 mexican pesos) and contains 29 essential food items enough to feed a family of four for about a week. The remaining money will be designated for presents for the children.

Hola, soy Cindy y este es el tercer año que llevo acabo este proyecto. La historia empieza en el 2020, cuando todos estábamos viviendo una nueva y desafiante etapa, la pandemia del COVID-19.

Durante 2020, pude notar las dificultades que enfrentaban muchas personas al rededor de todo el mundo, en particular, ver a madres y padres que se encontraban en apuros por poner comida en las mesas de sus familias. No hace falta decir que el 2020 agravó los problemas de todos, así que busque una manera de poder ayudar.

Finalmente, decidí apoyar a una pequeña comunidad mexicana donde pasé gran parte de mi infancia, San Miguel, Villa Purificación en el estado de Jalisco, México. Dada a la situación y la austeridad del pueblo, el tener acceso a alimentos era difícil y sabía que proporcionando comida, por pequeña la cantidad que fuera, ayudaría a mitigar este problema y así fue como inició este proyecto.

En diciembre de 2020 pude donar 10 cajas de alimentos para las familias del pueblo y el siguiente año 2021 pude aumentar la cantidad a 30 cajas en total más juguetes para los niños durante las épocas navideñas.

Ver la gratitud de los padres cuando reciben las cajas de alimentos y la alegría en los rostros de sus hijos cuando reciben su juguete como un Lego o una muñeca es un recuerdo inolvidable. Ma da una gran alegría poder contribuir y retribuir a la comunidad que me ha dado tantas buenas experiencias y memorias cuando era pequeña y espero poder compartir estos recuerdos duraderos con ustedes más adelante este año.

Mi objetivo este año es poder suministrar 160 cajas (lo que equivale a una caja por hogar) junto con juguetes nuevamente para los niños. Cada caja cuesta $25 USD ($500.00 pesos mexicanos) y contiene 29 alimentos esenciales suficientes para alimentar a una familia de cuatro personas durante aproximadamente una semana. El dinero restante se destinará a regalos para los niños.
